3 simple tricks for gorgeous brows

Got rid of those unwanted hairs with tweezers? Have your brushed your brows? If you’ve answered ‘yes’, now you are ready to fill them in for a natural, defined look. Let’s draw attention to your pretty peepers!

Step 1: Brush a little bit of gel with your fingers to shape eyebrows in the shape and keep everything place. It’ll also help fill in sparse spots. Afterwards, brush them with flat eye brush.

Step 2:  Time to work your angled brush to softly fill in brows with the help of black matte shadow (don’t use a pencil…it looks tacky). Start with the brow arch and work your way to the corners on the end. Make sure to brush in the direction of hair growth for the appearance of fuller eyebrows. Then,  blend the brow with your fingers and lengthen the tip.

Step 3: Use a q-tip to wipe of excess shadow around the brows. Don’t apply too much pressure, you don’t want to smudge all your hard work. Now stand back from your mirror so you can see the whole picture.

Whether you have over plucked or weren’t blessed with naturally thick brows, these simple tricks can bring your brows back!

Wish you could grow hair faster? All you have to do is message olive oil (vaseline works too) to your eyebrows at night. Be sure to clean it off when you wake up in the morning!

Winter skin and hair tips to keep you glowing

A few carefully selected extra steps to your beauty regime this Winter can make all the difference. January and February are usually the coldest months of the year, and believe us when we say they really do play the most havoc with your skin and hair!

Get both your complexion and your locks in tip top condition and avoid suffering from the extreme elements. The cold air can cause dry, flaky skin, and brittle, lackluster hair, but by being aware of these 5 simple tips below, you don’t have to become a victim the harsh Winter effects.

Choose a gentle peel

Using a facial peel might not be the first thing you would think of, but a gentle face peel can really help with skin hydration. A non-abrasive peel used once or twice weekly is great for brightening the complexion and revealing fresher, new skin. Look for ones packed with lactic acid in the ingredients, because even though it’s an exfoliating acid, it also boosts natural water content in the skin, unlike glycolic, which just exfoliates.

Use a hydrating mask

If those tell-tale signs of tightness and dryness start to creep in during the cold months, add a twice-weekly hydrating mask to your beauty regime. It’s important to maintain that plumped, supple look and feel, and sometimes an intense hydrating mask is all you need to keep moisture levels at their highest.

Leave-in conditioner

You’ll find that by being exposed to colder air and central heating causes your hair to become at its most driest and brittle state. Not to mention the array of parties and events you’ll have experienced over December, which involves more heat appliance to hair than at any other time of the year. Make sure to always apply a nourishing and moisturizing leave-in conditioner before you blow dry, whether it’s a spray, cream or gel formula.

Sleep in it

Sometimes, our skin and hair need a much more intense dose of treatments and hydration to give quicker, more effective results. This is where those sleep-in products work wonders, and thanks to 2016, we’ve seen so many more of these overnight products launch. Nothing works better to deeply nourish and condition your hair like an overnight hair mask, allowing over 8 hours of nutrient penetration. And, in the exact same way, nothing is going to let you wake up with the freshest, softest, glowing skin like a through-the-night facial treatment.

Looking to draw a straight line across your lids, or correct a smudge? 5 proven tips can help you quickly and easily avoid beauty blunders, and get you those perfectly defined eyes.

Wobbly hands: If your hand is not stable enough to use a liquid eyeliner, rest your elbow on a table, and grab a pencil eyeliner to draw your desired line.

Smudgy ink: No problem! If you gobb on too much eyeliner, dip a Q-tip in a little makeup remover, and then clean up and correct uneven areas around your eyes.

Poorly pigmented shadow: Use eyeliner in white as a base, and that will help your shadow after, to be expressive.

Tricky liner: While some eyeliner styles may be hard to pull off, (a.k.a. the perfect winged cat eye), attach some transparent tape in the corner of your eye, and drawing a line in the right direction.

How to choose the perfect perfume

Finding the perfect fragrance that matches your personality and makes you feel right at home is a challenge. But, this is only half the battle. Keep in mind, you need to settle on a perfume pick that your skin likes as well.

From the legendary and classic, which resist the ravages of time, to more modern and avant-garde, there are many perfumes available at your fingertips.

Do you tend to get confused in the abundance of different scents and the beautiful bottles while shopping? When many perfumes are mixed, it can deeply overwhelm your senses. So, to avoid winding up with a headache, it’s worth to reach for a few simple tricks that will help you select the right perfume, and try even dozens, if desired.

1) When testing a perfume, be sure to spritz  on the testing strips offered. And almost always, shake it to soak up the smell, and breath it in!

2) Sniff something neutral, like the inside of your hand (or a tissue)  after every two or three perfumes to delete the nose smells from the previous scent. Now you can make it easier to properly experience each fragrance.

3) Do a test run. Experience different notes in the category (floral, citrus, exotic) that you love, to narrow down your search.

3 signs its time to switch up your hairstyle

Are you struggling to head back to the salon? Perhaps you don’t even realize that, at this very moment, it sounds like someone is in a rut (not just you). Ladies, no matter how long you loved your current hairstyle, it’s time to freshen up your look.  I don’t know about you, but here’s 5 warning signs that signal its time for a change, and fast.

You hair is showing signs of wear

Take a long, hard look at your ends. If your hair is thinner, losing volume by the minute, and  falling flat after styling, you’re not doing any favors to your mane. If your hair is still in tip top shape, you should be able to glide your fingers through it with ease.  The only way to ensure your very fine strands don’t get super – tangled, or worse, book an appointment right away.

Going through a life change

Perhaps you got a new job or lost weight. And that gorgeous bob just doesn’t suit you anymore. Keep in mind that your hair needs a transformation in the same direction. Adding some layers or chopping it all off might be the best way to get over breakup with your boyfriend, and let go of the past! Do it for yourself. Be like Felicity. If you are ready to shake things up in your life, your hairstyle is a good place to start.

You’re stuck in the past

One last piece of advice. When your friends that you haven’t seen in years assure you: “you haven’t changed a bit” since college, its a sure fire sign that you’ve been with the same hairstyle for way to long.  Trust me, its  another way of saying that you’re hair looks terrible, politely.

Don’t wait another week. Meet with your hairstylist to get a fabulous new do’ that will  turn heads, and bring out a brand new you.

Get beautiful, soft skin with Garnier Micellar Extra-Gentle Cleansing Wipes

Sometimes we do not have enough time in the day to take care of our skin.  And in situations likes these, where we are not able to fully perform their favorite rituals of facial cleansing, Garnier Micellar Extra-Gentle Cleansing Wipes ($7.59) are the idea solution – even for the most sensitive skin.

What is most great about this teeny wipes, is the “on the go” factor. Their convenience lies in  the compact package, and the fact that you can carry them everywhere with you (small enough to squeeze in your evening handbag).

In addition, Garnier micellar water for cleaning efficiently frees the skin from impurities accumulated during the day, leaving it perfectly clean. Kind to your skin, the micellar wipes are known to have 5% silk fibers,  which gently removes all traces of oil, dirt and grime. Even when you are wearing kiss proof lipstick, one sheet lifts everything off with just one wipe.

After use, your skin feels a lot softer, and smells lovely too! Just be careful around the the eyes- pat lightly and don’t press too much or it will irritate the skin. Non oily and non greasy makes it perfect for all skin types. Don’t fret about adding a layer of moisturizer when you’re done, this product does not dry out.

Not convinced? Each cleansing wipe generates a little bit of soap which helps when you need to peel away long lasting eyeliner, water proof mascara, and thick foundation. Because the micellar formular acts like a magnet, there is no scrubbing or hard wiping necessary. This has been my problem with using Nivea’s wipes in the past. For make up removal, Garnier  certainly comes out on top.

  • Ultra soft, moist wipes
  • Fragrance free
  • Doesn’t dry out
  • Sensitive to all skin types
  • Travel-friendly

  • Irritated the eye area

Consider adding these wipes to your daily beauty routine. You will be glad you did.

School Makeup: how to fix your broken lipstick

lipGrrrrrrr! Has this happened to you? One of the biggest nightmares for women is no doubt when your lipstick breaks after you applied.

Now you immediately throw away the tube, and have to buy a new one, which is certainly an expense, especially if your previous lipstick was better. A word to the wise: do not throw out lipstick when it suddenly becomes loose or hanging – its not gone forever. You can “glue” a broken lipstick  in 5 easy steps, with the help of a lighter. Here’s how:

Step 1:  twist off the bottom part of the lipstick, and place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to cool and slightly stretch.

Step 2: use a q-tip to clean the base, so the surface becomes flat and smooth.

Step 3: take a hot lighter to carefully melt the broken piece, but remember, you don’t need to burn the lipstick. Take the broken piece that came off, and press it gently against the bottom end to secure it into place.

Step 4: reach again for the q-tip, to smooth it further.

Step 5: once again in one piece, put the lipstick back in the fridge for an hour, and let it set completely.

It will be as good as new. And you will be able to reuse your favorite lipstick like nothing ever happened!

Product Review: TIGI Bedhead Hard Head Hairspray

I’ve gone through many different products over the years, and this TIGI Bedhead Hard Hairspray ($24.93) instantly locks volume and lift for creating the dramatic hairstyle that you dream of. Truth of the matter is, this is my all time favorite. If you have fine, thin and lifeless hair, it’s not too heavy.

When sprayed 10-12 inches away from your hair, this hairspray offers relentless hold and control. It dries in seconds. The more you use, the harder it gets. Don’t press too hard on the nozzle, or you will spray too much in one area, to the point that hair ends up looking greasy.

Love adding height to your hairstyle? First, apply a pin size amount of mousse, and work it through the hair. Brush it back to make sure the product is distributed evenly. You need to spend 5 minuts drying hair with a thick round brush, before you spray in a circular motion on the back layers (the trick to big hair) upsidedown. Whipp your hair forward, and quickly move strands in place with a comb, and softly patt the sides. Finally, lift the hair upwards with fingers and continue to spot spray to achieve the vuluptuous 6o’s look. Bigger the better!

You can use a little or a lot, depending on the style you want to create. This clean hairspray really holds strands in place, without the wet feeling you get from cheaper products. If you are looking for flexible hold that you can rush your hairbrush, this isn’t for you.

“Hard” head is right. This hairspray does exactly what it says it does. Hardhead provides maxmium hold that lasts over night and well into the next wash. Oh, I forgot to mention, it smells wonderful.

It’s worth the extra couple of dollars to buy a product that you know is trustworthy. P.S. the nozzle never cloggs. I would definitly recommed giving it a go.

  • Maximum Hold
  • Touchable Look, Feel
  • Dries Instantly
  • Volume, Texture and Lift Guarantee

Holiday Edition: 5 pretty shades your nails will love

Manicured nails are now inevitable detail of the modern woman, and where color paint is concerned, there are virtually no rules. As the holiday season approaches, slowly thinking about gowns that will shine on New Year’s night, we all want the perfect manicure that adds a touch of mystery.

From liquid gold and glitter, to the inevitable dark and mysterious layers, I want to share 5 best nail polish shades that will last through you through the winter.

Yves Saint Laurent, 79 Silver Clash ($28)

Kick it up a notch with silver glitter and specs of gold nail polish that fits with the seasons spirit. Reminds me of snowflakes in December.

Christian Dior, Golden ($38.62)pic3

I think this shade speaks for itself. This dream like liquid gold nail polish is luxurious enough to be worn alone. I can’t keep my eyes off it.

Revlon, 721 Raven Red ($6.51)pic2

Darker then the colour of Rudolph’s nose, this plum red nail polish will give you the holly jolly feeling, no matter what you’re celebrating. Try this of you’r looking for a versatile, everyday shade.

L’Oreal Paris, 664 Greige ($4.99)pic4

Been naughty this year? I normally don’t choose dark nail polish, but this moody grey is dark enough to be bold, but not dark enough to be overwhelming.

Art Deco, 908 Aztec Taupe ($13) pic4

Time to glam it up for the holidays. This bronze nail polish has a hint of shimmer that looks lovely on nails, and really shines.

Don’t they all look pretty? With each shade, painting my nails was a pretty easy task. The brushes are thick, that make it easy to control each brush stroke. For the staying power of gel polish that lasts a long time, without wear and tear – try layering.

You don’t need to reach for the top or base coat. For opaque coverage: carefully swipe on 3 light coats (allow the first one to dry completely) of paint on each nail, and leave 15-20 minutes of drying time for a truly, unforgettable manicure to wear on Christmas eve, festivities, and beyond!

What do you think of these polishes? Have your eye on any of them?

Fall in love with Yves Saint Laurent’s new perfume: Mon Paris

One of the most magical things about this pink perfume is the glass bottle itself (adds to its allure). Decorated with an exquisite black bow,  its inspired by the romantic city of Paris – romantic, slightly sweet, and seductive.

How is Yves Saint Laurent’s new perfume fragrance Mon Paris ($140) different from the rest? The composition has a delicious smell of berries and citrus at the top, pear and white flowers in the middle, and the base scent notes of amber and patchouli that awakens the senses.

Tempting you to explore your most intimate desires of a passionate love affair makes this perfume extra special. Okay… lets admit it! Life is indeed beautiful when you’re wearing Mon Paris. The body of the perfume is not only sexy , but it radiates confidence, (and makes you smell good). It’s not just any designers perfume that you stash away on the nightstand.

Sparkling and strong, the flowers of datura are highly toxic, and come from hallucinogenic plants-no wonder this alluring fragrance lasts all day with only a few mists. Not overpowering, the naturally romantic  scent is a great choice if you’re looking for a new signature fragrance. It reminds me of Miss Dior; so if you’re a fan of the scent, you’ll most likely be head over heels for Mon Paris.

  • Confidence Booster
  • Romantic and Sexy  Signature Scent
  • Long -Lasting
  • Draws compliments
  • Fruity, floral, sweet smell

Fall Beauty Trend: the gothic lip

The boldest trend for this season is definitely the Gothic, vampy lips. This tragically beautiful ‘don’t mess with me’ dark lipstick is growing in popularity.

Completely black lips and the combination with pale skin which defines the modern Gothic street style from the 90’s is making a serious comeback.

The trick to pulling off this look without looking overdone, or too much like a corpse bride, is to keep everything minimal, and keep the focus on the lips. Use a little BB  cream if you have to, but no heavy foundation. Apply mascara to your upper lashes, and skip the blush. The smokey eye look is best left to Halloween.

Dark lipstick doesn’t automatically mean black. Ranging from Gothic dark scarlet color to deep purple and full on matte black, you can easily find the perfect matching shade for your skin tone (and comfort level) to fit your daring tastes. Just use the goths, punks, and outsiders for inspiration.

A black pout is flattering on everyone. For application, select the hue you like and swipe it on. For a more subdued effect, blot with a tissue, or layer on a second coat for deeper impact. To make it last all day, use a nude lipstick at the edge of your lips to prevent smudging.

Top Picks:

Nars Audacious Lipstick In Ingrid ($34.99), Marc Jacobs Lovermarc Lip Gel In 130 Little Pretty ($30), Mac Black Night Lipstick ($21).

Helpful tip: dry or flaky lips will show even more when wearing dark lipstick, especially if it’s matte — so it’s important to properly condition your lips beforehand. Run a damp toothbrush over your lips, and then add lip balm to ensure smoothness.

Ready to embrace the dark side of autumn?

5 Mindblowing tricks for longer and thicker lashes

Dreaming about making  lashes longer and thicker… naturally? Before putting all your effort in applying multiple coats of mascara to achieve the butterfly effect, make sure your eyelashes are strong and healthy.

  • Always (absolutely always) remove makeup: for noticeably defined lashes that look more awake, never forget to remove make-up  when you’re busy, even after a fun night out. Dried particles of mascara can break the delicate structure of ‘hair’ eyelashes, and cause them to shed more then usual .
  • Invest in quality makeup removers: highly recommend Lancome Bi-Facial Double-Action ($20) makeup remover.  Thanks to the creamy formula, its gentle enough to  remove even the strongest waterproof makeup. This product effectively removes mascara without irritation and drying out the skin. You don’t need to rub too much because it can irritate the eyelids. Simply press the cotton ball  over the eye, and leave on for 10 seconds, before wiping several times.
  • Natural oils accelerate lash growth: straightening and  regrowth is possible when you lube them up with natural oils. Eyelashes being soaked in olive, coconut oil, or a real elixir such as castor oil give the illusion of denser and dramatic lashes. Just soak some oil over a cotton ball, and place over lashes (first wipe off all makeup residue with a face scrub) after a good cleanse.
  •  Eat healthy for healthy lashes: for conditioning the skin, hair and nails; a healthy diet is key. Choose foods such as fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A, D, B;  unsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, and minerals.
  • Fake gorgeous faux lashes with a good mascara: select  lengthening mascara to increase the volume of healthy and strong eyelashes. Try one of these fab formulas: Maybelline Colossal Mascara 100% Black ($9.99), DIOR Dior Show Mascara ($37) and Smashbox  Full Exposure Mascara ($28)

Now give your pretty eyelashes a little TLC (ok a lot) and your lids will love you for it. Achieve the HUGE lash look on your own, no extensions required.
